A perfect stroller for newborns - 4 yrs old Nov 19, 2008
By New Mom in the City

The 4 Rider by Mutsy comes with a bassinet, toddler seat, and silver chassis (the wheel part). The chassis is available with either foam wheels (the 4 Rider Light) in single or multiple spokes (I much prefer the ride of multiple spokes); small air filled tires (bit heavier); or with 4 huge air filled tires (4 Rider Urban). The bassinet and toddler seat on all models is the same.
We have had this stroller for 5 months now and brought my baby home from the hospital in the bassinet. At first I wasn't sure if I needed a "full feature" stroller or just a smaller umbrella type but having the bassinet was great! It easily detaches from the stroller and can be carried with a strap throughout the house or in a taxi or bus. The wheel part collapses very easily and pretty compactly (fit with no problem in our trunk with plenty of room to spare). My baby slept in the bassinet for hours and it was wonderful to be able to see her face which was a feature that I wanted and is not available with the umbrella strollers.
When she was 4 months, we used the Graco carseat for a little while which was very useful but not my child's favorite way to travel. The Mutsy can take either a Graco or Maxi Cosi with an adaptor (sold separately).
We have now moved onto the toddler seat. In 2008, Mutsy began selling the strollers with only the toddler seat for around $500 - so you can save $200 by not buying the 3-piece system with bassinet if your child is older. The toddler seat can recline absolutely flat and can face either direction so can be used from birth (however the European manual states the baby should be 6 months old...strange). It is not a bucket like the Bugaboo - when reclined completely, the child is flat, not in a "V" form as with the Bugaboo or Quinny. It has a huge good with viewing window, detachable bumper bar, 5 piece harness and adjustable foot rest. The fabric is fantastic - plush but easily cleaned. I have the stroller in red and the lining of the hood is a very silky light grey cotton.
In addition to the stroller, I did buy the carseat adaptor, footmuff (there are many other brands out there but as a first time mum, I wanted everything matchy matchy), dinner tray and rain shield (not sure if I like the rain shield - it's a very stiff plastic - a pain to fold up).
Overall, I am thrilled with the stroller. I spent about 39.5 weeks of my pregnancy researching all the brands and debating on going with a bassinet or Snap n Go (NOT safe for a newborn in my opinion) and got everything I wanted with this one. Most people who shop for a full-featured European stroller go for the Bugaboo however I feel that this stroller has it beat in 3 ways: Collapses flat with the seat attached which makes it great for subways or taxis, the bassinet is much higher than on the Bugaboo (about 12-18" higher), and the toddler seat and bassinet are two separate items which means you can either buy the stroller with our without the bassinet or sell it later when your child outgrows it. Another small point is that the toddler seat reclines flat and not in a bucket or fixed "V" form.

Great flexible travel, feeding, and sleeping system Jul 30, 2008

We bought the 4rider light. This stroller is great. We have used it for just three weeks for our boy, but tested it with our nephew earlier this year. Be certain to buy the Graco car seat adapter, the feeding tray, and the rocker seat adapter. The system is very flexible. With the bassinet and the car seat, the baby can always be comfortable and does not need to be awakened to move. The stroller can be maneuvered with one hand. It is a large system and a bit heavy but my wife and I both love it.
UPDATE
The price for this system has increased since we purchased it. The stroller has been making ourlives easy for more than a year now. With the attachments listed above the sytem is a great buy. The new price seems a bit steep but... It is a great system. My sister in law bought the Bugaboo. She likes ours better. My mother in law can't assemble the bugaboo and won't use it - but uses our Mutsy after just a 1 minute instruction.
Best part is at the beach. While all the other parents are stuck on the boradwalk, my son and I are at the water's edge listening to the water. I am often followed and asked questions about the product when I get back to the boardwalk.
Don't wate your $ on the shopping basket attachment. All hype. Not worth the $.
Still love this product.

mutsy 4rider light in khaki Sep 13, 2009
By Kyung Hee Kim i wasn't sure what to expect with this stroller since i wasn't able to test drive it before i purchased, but i thought i would take the plunge because i liked all the features. i got the step up board, shopping basket, and tray.
i was surprised at the size of the stroller. it is big. i'm 5'7" and i think it's the right size for my height. i would hesitate if you are much shorter. the quality is very good. i was pleasantly surprised by its nice construction and quality materials. the step up board is for my 40lb, 5 yr old son. he absolutely loves it. the stroller is heavy.. a friend commented it is the range rover of strollers. it takes up a lot of trunk space. i have a volvo suv and have little room for anything else. you definitely can push this stroller with one hand. i like the high weight capacity for this stroller; we even use it for my son when he falls asleep.
all in all, if you have the trunk space and you are tall enough and strong enough (to get the stroller in and out of your car), feel confident in ordering. we got the peg perego aria as a backup stroller which we keep in the car now (because it was a real pain lifting the stroller), and keep this one in our house for walks. now i'm happy.

Best in the market!!! Sep 05, 2008
By Claudia M. Gaviria So far this stroller has been almost PERFECT, we bought it for our son who is 6 months now and we've used it since day one as basinet in our bedroom and then from 3 months until now with the chair, it is a little heavy but very easy to fold and unfold, it is strong even to take to the beach, I would recommended for everyone looking for this kind of stroller, compared to bugaboo and others this is the one because it has better price and excellent quality. Good Luck!!!

Mutsy 4Rider Light? Oct 09, 2009

It is definitely not a "light" stroller this is 23 lbs as to a Bugaboo frog 19lbs.I do like the look of the Mutsy but, It is not very practical in my opinion. The option of it folding in one piece is a good idea in general but, the stroller does not fully lock when folded so when you go pick it up, make sure you grab it with both hands and hold the inside frame. If you lift it from just the handle it will be much more difficult to lift. I have two boys and I think that I have developed "mommy muscles" but, this stroller is just a pain to lift in and out of the car. Then the bugaboo frog is lighter and you do have to snap the seat out to fold but, it's a quick little side snap it's not difficult in anyway to remove the seat. The Mutsy has two things you have to snap back to remove the seat and in no way is it as quick as a Bugaboo. Also the fact that the seat on the Bugaboo removes makes it very easy to fold and lift in and out of the car, or if you are in a big city and jumping in the subway SO EASY to fold, lift and carry the child while in the seat (this obviously can only be done until a certain age). I have to agree that the wheels on the Mutsy are easy to manuever and great for rough terrain. This is why this line is Huge in Europe. Europeans are looking for the ride in rough terrain and Americans are looking for the lightest stroller out there.
To close this stroller you have to do this hand pump movement on one side and pull the handle out and snap in while doing the pump on the other side. Note that if you remove the seat or change positions you have to turn it back around to fold and make sure the little plastic things at the bottom of the seat hook underneath little tubes at the bottom of the stroller. If you do not hook this part the stroller will not close. I find this to be a pain.
Another good thing about this stroller is that the seat has a little rotation level on the side/bottom of the seat, that adjusts the seat depth. That's a nice option when you have a small child and want to fit the stroller more to the baby's/ child's size. Also the handle can be extended for taller people. Other than that I wouldn't fully recommend this stroller based on my experience. But, everyone has an specific need in a stroller and if larger frame and rougher terrain wheels is your option then, this is the stroller for you!
